This is a University of Guelph PhD project that is funded in part by Mitacs Accelerate, the Rural Policy Learning Common, the Regional Innovation Chair in Rural Economic Development, and the University of Guelph Rural Studies program.

It is further supported by the Kootenay United Cannabis Association (KUCA), Craft Cannabis Association of BC (CCABC), BC Micro License Association (BCMLA), Association of Canadian Cannabis Retailers (ACCRES), Community Futures Central Kootenay (CFCK), the Applied Research and Innovation Centre at Selkirk College, and the Nelson and District Chamber as well as other small businesses in the Kootenay Economic Development Region and rural BC.
